West Bend and Hartford
Harley-Davidson
Having a special interest in the Harley-Davidson company makes designing their advertising truly fun and enjoyable.
I have been working closely with the local dealerships for at least the last 6 years. It really came together when Harley-Davidson celebrated their 100th Anniversary. The company I work for was having a special promotion running which in turn sparked an idea for me in Harley's advertising. One other fascinating fact was that dealerships typically don't advertise in each other's territory, but they made an exception when they had seen the generic ad I produced, and the sales reps worked out a deal with them. The end product produced was a 2-page spread promoting Harley-Davidson and all their logos on the bottom. It was a hit.
I had also taken part in the local dealership's t-shirt design contest. I had come up with two designs and the one seen below (first shown) was the winner. Since it was the 100th Anniversary I figured that the past looking at the future was the ideal concept.
At one point the opportunity to meet Jean Davidson, granddaughter of one of the founders, Walter Davidson, arose when she came to a local bookstore as well as another Harley dealership. She actually signed my T-Shirt design and commented that it was "beautiful artwork".
Now I begin my creative process designing some of the 105th Anniversary advertising for West Bend and Hartford Harley-Davidson in the Conley Media publications. It is truly an enjoyable aspect of my career.
